Press Capacity Considerations
The bending capacity of a press brake attachment is determined by both the attachment itself and the hydraulic workshop press on which it is installed. Material type, material thickness, bend length and tooling configuration all influence the tonnage required to perform a bending operation.
Whilst a larger attachment may physically accommodate a long workpiece, the hydraulic press must still provide sufficient force to perform the bend. For example, a 30-ton workshop press may not have sufficient capacity to bend a 750mm long section of 10mm thick mild steel.
