MRM 1050 Series • Motorised Plate Rolls

Please contact for prices

The MRM 1050 Series combines a robust steel construction with an asymmetrical initial-pinch three-roll configuration. Direct drive to the upper and lower rolls provides positive material feed and helps reduce slip marking, while the polished alloy-steel rolls are suited to handling pre-finished and sensitive sheet materials.

Each model includes motorised rear-roll adjustment with an mm counter, a mechanical manual drop-end top roll for removal of finished work, a mobile three-position foot pedal, conical bending device and heavy-duty brake motor. Select the appropriate model according to required mild-steel capacity and roll diameter.

The MRM 1050 Series is a range of heavy-duty motorised plate rolls with a 1,050 mm working length and mild-steel capacities from 7.0 mm to 10.0 mm. Available with 130 mm, 150 mm, 170 mm or 190 mm roll diameters, the range provides a practical choice for general fabrication, HVAC ducting, aluminium work, curved panels and sheet-metal covers.

The asymmetrical initial-pinch three-roll arrangement, directly driven upper and lower rolls, motorised rear-roll adjustment and manual drop-end top roll provide a robust solution for regular industrial sheet-metal rolling.

How to Choose a Plate Roll

Choose a plate roll by considering the material, maximum sheet thickness and bending length first. Then check the minimum bending diameter required, together with whether the work is occasional, regular or production use. Capacity figures should always be assessed against the actual material grade and whether the application requires rolling or pre-bending.

    1. Material and Thickness

Select a machine based on the thickest material you need to roll, not the material you handle most often. Mild-steel capacity is the normal reference point; stainless steel generally requires a larger machine, while aluminium may allow a higher capacity. For consistent production work, allow a sensible margin rather than operating continually at the machine’s stated maximum.

    2. Bending Length

The bending length must accommodate the widest sheet or component you need to form. Allow clearance beyond the finished part width where practical, particularly if workpieces need to be positioned accurately or repeatedly.

    3. Minimum Bending Diameter

The minimum bending diameter is determined mainly by roll diameter and machine geometry. Smaller rolls can produce tighter diameters, while larger rolls are normally better suited to heavier material. Confirm the required finished diameter before selecting a machine.

    4. Pre-Bending Requirement

Pre-bending reduces the flat section left at the leading and trailing edges of a rolled sheet. If you need cylinders, cones or curved components with minimal flat ends, choose a machine with suitable pre-bending capacity rather than relying only on its maximum rolling capacity.

    5. Manual or Motorised Operation

Manual slip rolls suit lighter-duty work, thinner material and occasional use. Motorised plate rolls provide more controlled, repeatable rolling for heavier sheet, wider material and regular fabrication. Motorised rear-roll adjustment is particularly useful where settings need to be repeated between parts.

    6. Finished Part and Production Requirement

Consider the full application: material type, sheet thickness, bending length, finished diameter, quantity of parts and required edge quality. This gives a better basis for machine selection than choosing only by nominal capacity.
